The building is connected to an impressive garden designed by the famous landscape gardener Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell. Nymphenburg Palace is one of the most famous sights in Munich. The building also contains the museum of Marstall, showing magnificient carriages and other attractions. It also houses several outstanding collections and galleries. For example a porcelain museum, the museum of human and a botanic garden. There is something to watch for everybody. Originally, the palace was a present from Ferdinand Maria to his wife Henriette Adelaide to celebrate the birth of their son. The son was called Maximilian Emanuel. When Maximilian became the Bavarian ruler himself, he advanced the extension of the palace and ordered the construction of symmetrical buildings connected to the central section by galleries. A good decision!
