Victuals Market Bavaria - The Victuals Market in Munich developed from a usual farmer's market to a famous market place for delicacies and tasty morsels. It started in 1807 as the so called "Kraeutlmarkt" (Herbal Market). Soon, it became bigger and the name was changed to Victuals Market (victual is the latin word for food). The products here are of the finest quality and the prices tend to be accordingly high. The market is real big. On an area of over 22,000 m² 140 merchants offer their goods. That includes flowers, venison, poultry, pork, spices, cheese and fish as well as local and exotic fruits, juices and other stuff. In spring and summer the entire market place turns into the biggest beer garden of the city when the sourrounding pubs and taverns bring out the seats in front of their doors. You won't find a bigger market place for delicacies throughout Germany and maybe whole Europe. Most of the merchants open from 8 am until 8 pm. You should not miss the Victuals Market when visiting Munich on your Germany vacation.
