Stralsund - Vacation at Germany's Baltic Sea Coast
The town of Stralsund is a scenic beauty. It is situated in the Northeast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at Germany's Baltic Sea coast. Embedded into the pittoresque landscape of the North German Baltic coast area, Stralsund and the sourrounding areas offer beauties of nature in the first place. But not only nature lovers will enjoy Stralsund on their Germany vacation. The town is also one of Germany's highlights regarding cultural aspects. Built in 1234, Stralsund offers imposing churches, medieval monasteries and historical buildings of all stylistique eras. Since 2002, the Old Town of Stralsund belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. The Town Hall is the landmark of Stralsund. Built in the 13th century, this awesome building is one of the most beautiful secular buildings in Germany and probably worldwide. Meeting point number one ist the Stralsund harbor. Here, young and old meet up to hang out in one of the numerous cafes or restaurants or just to enjoy the good life. In medieval times, traders and merchants harboured their ships here. Today, sailing boats and yachts affect the view of the Stralsund harbor. There are also lots of passenger ships, which offer trips to the sourrounding islands. Stralsund is also host to the biggest museum of natural history in Northern Germany. It is located at a former monestary. Its substantial and modern exhibitions allow insights to the oceans and sealife. It also shows the utilization and exploration of the sea by the humans.
