More Germany Christmas Markets - During pre-Christmas season, a popular tradition in Germany is visiting Christmas markets. In fact, it is impossible to imagine Christmas without Christmas markets in Germany today. More German Beer - The great taste and quality of German beer is well known all over the world. There are many different varieties of beer and the sorts you get depending most often on the area you are staying. The most popular sorts are Pilsner beer (mostly in the north) and wheat beer (south). The rhine area is popular for the so called Koelsch (beer from cologne) and dark beer (called Alt). Moreover, it was more of an insider’s tip. In the beginning of the 21st century, the German wine industry started a big marketing campaign helping German wine to a comeback. Today, the verdict of the public is a totally different one. More German School System - In Germany, children start their education by the age of 3 when they go to a kindergarten. They stay there for about 3-4 years and then advance to elementary school. At elementary school they stay for another 4 years. In contrast to the US, the students get grades from 1 to 6 while a 1 is the best grade and a 6 is the worst. More Working in Germany - The work week of the Germans is similar to the Americans. Usually, people work from 8.00 or 9.00 a.m. until 4.00 or 5.00 pm. In the competitive economy the 40 hours workweek is the norm while people in public service work less. 35 to 38 hours a week is usual in that sector. More Gambling in Germany - The most played gamble in Germany is the national lottery, but also casinos are fancied. There are quite a few places with rich tradition and great atmosphere. More |
